one july weekend

We stayed in town this weekend and actually had a fun-filled extra long few days!

My weekend actually started on Thursday night because I took Friday off work. We were invited to another lovely BBQ at the Wuebben's. Emma's Uncle Walt (UW) and her cousin, Mark were in town visiting from San Diego and we couldn't let UW come to town without stopping over to say hi. We were treated to fresh fruit and burgers on the grill and we also enjoyed another weeknight campfire complete with the best s'mores around. It's always fun spending a summer evening around a campfire with good friends.

Friday I woke up especially early because we held our first annual Macke Garage Sale. We had a ton of misc. stuff stored away after our big move and we were just itching to get rid of it all. Steve's parents opened up the sale on Thursday and Steve and I traded off selling our stuff on Friday and Saturday. Apparently we chose a good weekend for the sale because there were like 5 other sales on our street alone. All in all we had a great turnout and made some extra $$. (Saving up for a new camera!) The best part, however, is getting rid of all that clutter!

We in turn, invited the Wuebben's over for taco night and a movie. Even though they only live about 10 miles from our house, they slept over. (We have an incredibly comfortable guest bed!) Did I mention they were great friends!?!

Saturday morning was another early one for us. Steve and Kevin took over Garage Sale duty while Emma and I spent the morning hours hiking through Hyland Park in Bloomington. We had such a blast playing with a borrowed camera - taking photos of everything we could find. The trails were beautiful and we really did get some extraordinary shots.

The rest of the weekend was filled with Garage Sales (both selling and shopping), drinking lemonade, visiting with new neighbors, and sitting by the campfire and enjoying our patio. We watered the lawn/flowers and I picked my first harvest in the garden (green beans!).

What a wonderful way to spend a July weekend in MN!
